Frequently asked questions
How long does an international wire take?
Most SWIFT GPI wires settle within minutes to a few hours, but cut-off times, currency conversion, sanctions screening and correspondent banks can extend the timeline up to 2–5 business days.
Why is my wire transfer delayed?
Common reasons include sanctions screening, missing beneficiary information, weekend or holiday cut-offs, or queues at intermediary correspondent banks. Track on Ohmyfin to see exactly where the wire is.
Can I cancel an international wire?
Once a wire is in ACSP (settlement in progress) status, only your sending bank can recall it — and the recall must reach the correspondent before the beneficiary credit. Acting in the first few hours improves the chances.
Do exchange rates change while a wire is in flight?
No. The FX rate is fixed at the moment the sending bank books the payment. Any delay in transit does not change the amount the beneficiary receives, but charges deducted by correspondents may reduce it.
Does Ohmyfin see my account number?
No. Ohmyfin only reads the public UETR and bank-reference indices in the SWIFT network. We never see your account balance, login or card details.
